Is intangible "Support the Troops" rhetoric a way to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside?
Haven't you heard the saying "out of sight out of mind". American people that say support our troops feel as if they are doing their part. However, just by saying it does not make it so. I personally have supported troops and individual soldiers by filling their wish lists while they are in Iraq. A wish list is a list the troops or individual soldiers fill out asking for things that they really really need over there and sometimes things that they would just like to have. For instance shampoo, lotion, wet ones. popsicles, candy, books. I can say that I have met a lot of people who say "I support our troops" but when it came down to actually helping to fill a troops wish list they couldn't be bothered. America should be appalled at the way our soldiers are treated. They are one of the lowest paid workers out there. With one of the most dangerous jobs. But as the first sentence said "out of sight out of mind" If it is not a personal hardship to Americans they do not understand. If everyone would voice their outrage over the lack of pay, medical care, training and support our troops receive then maybe something could be done. I am willing to voice mine are you?
