How much for a cab from LAX to Venice beach?

im flying into LAX and my lay over is 6 hours, i want to leave the airport and do something .. anything, i think my easiest option is to head to Venice beach for a couple hours. Iv never been to LA so im not sure how all the transportation works. how much would a cab from LAX to Venice beach?.. do u have to call a cab or will there be alot of open cbs just waiting around?. are there any cheap shuttle busses to take me anywere exciting for cheap?. im not carrying around any luggage at all. so thats not a problem
