Is Allah merciful?

Why is it that radical muslims feel the need to kill the infedel? Wouldn't a better solution be to pray for your enemy so he would open his eyes and fall under the grace you have fallen under? I think they should leave the judgment up to Allah instead of going out and discriminating even against their fellow muslims!
